We only like to smoke out of glass bongs. Plastic bongs are disgusting. Glass bongs are so much easier to clean, and free of carcinogens. Also metal bongs or anything other then a glass bong is just no good for us. Glass bongs are often times cooler looking the other types of bongs. There are 2 types of glass bongs soft glass and hard glass, hard glass being Pyrex. We personally prefer hard glass bongs over the soft glass bong, but we will take either over a plastic or metal bong. Soft glass is often thick glass bongs, with solid colors, non transparent. A hard glass bong or Pyrex glass bong is often times clear, or transparent colored glass. Both types of Glass bongs have glass bowls.
One of the huge reasons we prefer a glass bong over any other is the glass bowl. With a glass bowl you are able to conserve the flavor of what you are smoking. Metal bowls just don't do this. Also with most types of bongs, even some glass, you need a grommet to keep your bowl air tight. With a glass bong, or what is known as a "glass on glass" bong, the bowl fits into the down stem of the bong precisely so there is no need for a grommet. This makes a great seal and the air flow of a glass bong like this is amazing. Glass bongs are more expensive than other types of bongs, but we would say the money spent on a glass bong is well worth it. The only true downside to a glass bong is it is breakable. Shopping for a new one is always fun though.
